The season depends on the region
There is no single Spanish season. On the Mediterranean coast and in the Balearic Islands it follows summer tourism, roughly from spring to autumn. In the Canary Islands tourism runs all year, with strong demand in winter. In ski resorts the season begins when the snow arrives, and in agriculture harvests follow their own calendar. This page shows only listings the employer itself marked as seasonal — where which ones are currently advertised is counted in the breakdown by location.
Fixed-term or fijo discontinuo
“Seasonal” says nothing about the contract. Often it is the fijo discontinuo — permanent, but with a pause between seasons — and genuine fixed-term contracts exist as well. Anyone who wants to come back should know the difference, because only with the fijo discontinuo does the employer have to call you back for the next season. Which contract is offered is stated on the listing. The articles below explain both routes and what applies during the pause.
Frequently asked questions
- When should I apply for a seasonal job?
- Usually well before it starts: if you want to start for the summer season on the Mediterranean or the islands, it makes sense to search in winter and early spring. Short-notice replacements come up all year, so it is worth checking “New jobs” in the middle of the season too.
- Are there seasonal jobs with accommodation?
- In some cases, yes. “Accommodation provided” is a separate field on the listing; the breakdown above counts how many seasonal roles currently include it. All roles with accommodation are collected on the page “Jobs with accommodation in Spain”.
