Why accommodation makes the difference in Mallorca

In Mallorca the bottleneck in season is housing, not work. Anyone arriving from outside will struggle to find affordable accommodation between May and September — and without an address, registering becomes difficult too. Employers who provide a room solve the larger of the two problems. Note the difference: «accommodation is provided» means the employer has something; «help with finding housing» means they support the search. Vokaro states these separately.

Provided or helped with: the difference matters

Two offers sound similar and are not. “Accommodation provided” means the company has a room or flat and you move in. “Help finding housing” means you search and someone supports you — in a Mallorcan summer that is a noticeable difference. Here they are two separate fields on the listing, not one shared sentence in the description. What it costs and whether anything is deducted from pay belongs in the contract; ask before signing rather than assuming.

It varies, and it belongs in the interview. Some employers provide the room free of charge; others deduct an amount from wages. Any deduction must be in the employment contract and may not push pay below the statutory minimum. Ask early — it is not an impolite question, it is a normal one.

Is accommodation deducted from wages?
